Micro-bevel.
Finish: Custom for each order. See quote for details on finish if used.
Moisture Content: Flooring is kiln dried to 6–9% prior to milling. Material is kept in a stable moisture environment while being
processed. For shipping, all flooring is wrapped to keep moisture levels stable during transit.
Surface: Boards are planed and sanded, resulting in a surface that is smooth and soft to the touch. Certain products may include
wire brushing, which creates a more rustic look. There will be no boards that present any type of splintering. Every board is
checked by hand to ensure its usability. Planed wood does not include saw marks. There may be nail holes and surface checks that
do not affect the integrity of the plank; both of these items will be filled with a suitable filler unless requested, leaving voids as is.
There may be some evidence of insect marks, which are generally in the form of pin holes. Knots will be present in varying sizes on
some boards. There will not be an abundance of knots, but some boards will have more knots and some none at all. All knots
present will be sound knots. Chipped or damaged knots will either be patched or cut out. The grain pattern will be mixed and may
include some quarter-sawn, plain-sawn, and rift-sawn grain patterns. There will be very little sap wood present.
Installation, Handling, and Storing: We recommend that installation, handling, storing, and prep of the jobsite all follow the
guidelines established by the National Wood Flooring Association (www.nwfa.org). If you are not a NWFA member, we can supply
technical guidelines upon request.
Overage: We recommend 5–10% overage, depending on the amount of cuts necessary and the need to have extra material to be
able to reject certain boards for color.
Additional: If you have additional questions regarding any of the above or other items related to our floors, please contact us.
