Douglas Fir Rough Sawn Yosemite Beams (BM105YOS)

Our Douglas Fir Rough Sawn Yosemite Beams present a deeper, more expressive take on Douglas Fir, highlighting the species’ bold grain and texture. The Rough Sawn surface remains pronounced, allowing the stain to settle in, emphasizing saw marks, growth lines, and character marks. Yosemite is confident and substantial, designed for spaces that speak to depth and character.

Yosemite colors range from rich chestnut to weathered cedar to deep russet-brown tones, with darker accents pronounced in the grain. Compared to lighter fir profiles, Yosemite is more dramatic, with greater contrast. Character marks, mineral streaks, and the Douglas Fir Grain remain visible, providing for an authentic, textured product.

These beams work especially well in mountain, lodge, rustic-modern, and transitional interiors, great rooms, vaulted ceilings, beam wraps, and truss systems where wood is meant to anchor the space. Yosemite pairs naturally with stone, iron, leather, and plaster, bringing visual weight without feeling overly heavy or dark.

Yosemite box beams are available in any size, whether wrapping existing structure, creating long-span focal beams, or integrating into custom truss assemblies. These beams are ideal for projects seeking Rough Sawn authenticity, strong grain expression, and the rich, timeworn character of Douglas Fir.

Rough Sawn Beams Detailed Specs

Rough Sawn beams carry the marks of their history. Crafted from authentic reclaimed wood, each beam tells a story. Sourced from older structures like barns, factories, and vintage buildings, they showcase an original patina and distinctive saw marks from their original milling. Left with their original face to highlight their natural beauty, the rough sawn boards have subtle variations in texture and tone. Compared to the Hand Hewn beams, our rough sawn beams are less rustic with a surface that allows for more consistant surface and stain finishes. The lighter-weight box beams combine the beauty of the original surface with the benefit of being lighter weight to ship and install. Use box beams as a new architectural design element or to cover existing elements or beams. E&K Rough Sawn Beams deliver the presence of true vintage timber while offering flexible customization for any project.

  • Box Joinery: In an ideal situation, we take a single solid Rough Sawn beam that is the size of the box beam we are making. We resaw the face and two sides from the solid beam and reassemble these skins with a miter joint. If we cannot make the size needed from a single solid beam, we will use pieces from multiple beams and will miter them together using our proprietary techniques that mean the finished beam will read as a solid beam.
  • Box Length Joint: Miter joint, Lock Miter joint.

  • Source: Reclaimed beams taken from barns and other old structures.
  • Colors: Natural wood colors found on exterior patina. Custom staining options are available to complement your design. Reclaimed wood beams offer natural variation creating depth, warmth, and visual interest that makes every installation feel unique and authentic. Because of this natural variation, colors and stains will differ from beam to beam and may not be an exact match to samples.
