Oak Planed Taos Beams (BM111TAO)

E&K’s Oak Planed Taos Beams offer a clean, refined look with the natural beauty of White Oak. The planed surface creates a smooth finish that highlights the grain while keeping a simple, tailored appearance.

The custom Taos stain features soft natural tones with light wheat and pale Oak hues. Subtle variation in color and grain gives each beam depth without feeling heavy. Small markings and natural character remain visible, adding authenticity to the wood.

Taos beams work well in both modern and traditional spaces. Our beams are available in custom dimensions to fit the design of your project. Available as solid beams or crafted as box beams. The box beams are easier to install with lighter weight and are available in larger sizes. We fabricate each box beam to order, and we can make them in any size.

“Whether people are fully conscious of this or not, they actually derive countenance and sustenance from the ‘atmosphere’ of the things they live in or with. They are rooted in them just as a plant is in the soil in which is planted.” -Frank Lloyd Wright

Planed Beams Detailed Specs

Planed Beams offer a warm and refined look that fits perfectly into both modern and traditional designs. These beams are carefully milled to create a smooth surface, making them an excellent choice for projects that require a sophisticated aesthetic. While they have a contemporary feel, their reclaimed origins show through with a tighter grain, richer colors, and character marks of aged wood. Planed Beams have versatility; they can adapt to a variety of design styles, from minimalist, to contemporary to vintage.

Crafted from authentic reclaimed wood, each beam tells a story. Sourced from older structures like barns, factories, and vintage buildings, we mill the vintage wood to give them the smoothest surface. The box beams combine the beauty of the vintage grain with the benefit of being lighter weight to ship and install. Use box beams as a new architectural design element or to cover existing elements or beams.

  • Box Joinery: In an ideal situation, we take a single solid beam that is the size of the box beam we are making. We resaw the face and two sides from the solid beam and reassemble these skins with a miter joint. If we cannot make the size needed from a single solid beam, we will use pieces from multiple beams and will miter them together using our proprietary techniques that mean the finished beam will read as a solid beam.
