Oak Hand Hewn Austin Beams (BM100AUS)

With a soft beige color and gray undertones, Oak Hand Hewn Austin Beams have a subtle sun-washed appearance. The lighter finish draws out the grain and hand-tooled texture, creating a clean, understated surface that works beautifully in contemporary and rustic interiors. Its gentle tonal variation offers a relaxed, refined look that remains versatile across a range of design styles.

Austin Beams carry the authentic adze markings left by early American craftsmen, showcasing the character and individuality of reclaimed Oak. Each beam displays its own grain, texture, and heritage, all preserved through our box beam construction technique, which provides the appearance of solid beams that can be made in any dimensions.

Hand Hewn Beams Detailed Specs

Hand Hewn beams carry the marks of real history. Each piece is reclaimed, authentic, and shaped by the original adze work that gives this surface its depth and character. Hand Hewn beams are available as either solid beams or constructed box beams. The lighter-weight box beams combine the beauty of the original hewn surface with the benefit of being cheaper to ship and install. Use box beams as a new architectural design element or to cover existing beams. E&K Hand Hewn Beams deliver the presence of true vintage timber while offering flexible sizing for any project.

  • Box Joinery: In an ideal situation, we take a single solid Hand Hewn beam that is the size of the box beam we are making. We resaw the face and two sides from the solid beam and reassemble these skins with a butt joint. This allows us to retain the same irregular edges found on the solid beams. If we cannot make the size needed from a single solid beam, we will use pieces from multiple beams and will miter them together.
  • Box Length Joint: Butt joint, Miter joint.

  • Source: Reclaimed beams taken from barns and other old structures.
  • Colors: Natural wood colors found on exterior patina. Custom staining options are available to complement your design. Reclaimed wood beams offer natural variation creating depth, warmth, and visual interest that makes every installation feel unique and authentic. Because of this natural variation, colors and stains will differ from beam to beam and may not be an exact match to samples.
