Mixed Hardwood Hand Hewn Dark Brown Beams (BM101DB)

Our Mixed Hardwood Hand Hewn Dark Brown Beams emphasize the layered character and natural variation found across historic hardwood species. This finish blends espresso, weathered cocoa, and amber undertones. This is a bold look that enhances the authenticity of hand hewn timbers.

The finish blends naturally into the hand-hewn texture, highlighting adze marks, chisel impressions, and irregular surfaces shaped by early craftsmen. Because these beams are crafted from reclaimed mixed hardwoods, each piece carries unique characteristics and variations in grain density and character marks developed over decades of use. The Dark Brown finish unifies these elements without masking their individuality, resulting in beams that are richly varied.

Available as solid beams and in box construction, and crafted in any size. Our Mixed Hardwood Hand Hewn Dark Brown Beams offer the look of large historic timbers with modern installation and flexibility.

Hand Hewn Beams Detailed Specs

Hand Hewn beams carry the marks of real history. Each piece is reclaimed, authentic, and shaped by the original adze work that gives this surface its depth and character. Hand Hewn beams are available as either solid beams or constructed box beams. The lighter-weight box beams combine the beauty of the original hewn surface with the benefit of being cheaper to ship and install. Use box beams as a new architectural design element or to cover existing beams. E&K Hand Hewn Beams deliver the presence of true vintage timber while offering flexible sizing for any project.

  • Box Joinery: In an ideal situation, we take a single solid Hand Hewn beam that is the size of the box beam we are making. We resaw the face and two sides from the solid beam and reassemble these skins with a butt joint. This allows us to retain the same irregular edges found on the solid beams. If we cannot make the size needed from a single solid beam, we will use pieces from multiple beams and will miter them together.
  • Box Length Joint: Butt joint, Miter joint.

  • Source: Reclaimed beams taken from barns and other old structures.
  • Colors: Natural wood colors found on exterior patina. Custom staining options are available to complement your design. Reclaimed wood beams offer natural variation creating depth, warmth, and visual interest that makes every installation feel unique and authentic. Because of this natural variation, colors and stains will differ from beam to beam and may not be an exact match to samples.
