Engineered Reclaimed Wood

Take the Guesswork Out Of Buying Reclaimed Wood

Not all reclaimed wood is created equal and it comes to us in a wide variety of conditions. Engineered reclaimed wood takes the authentic surface of antique beams and floorboards, weathered, worn, rich with character, and presses it onto a high-performance core. The result is a product that captures the look of vintage wood, but with the reliability modern projects demand.

  • Won’t warp, cup, or twist—ideal for radiant heat and wide installations
  • Longer, wider boards than solid reclaimed allows
  • Installs cleaner and faster with less waste
  • Preserves rare antique material—more yield from every beam

Everything Done In-House

At E&K, every stage of engineered wood production is done in-house, from sourcing reclaimed lumber to cleaning, drying, milling, and pressing. By managing the process under one roof, we ensure consistency, reduce waste, and create components that align perfectly across flooring and architectural elements like box beams.

This approach gives us the flexibility to:

  • Cut our own lamellas and press engineered flooring with authentic reclaimed surfaces/li>
  • Select only the highest-quality boards for each project
  • Produce matching parts such as stair treads, nosings, and custom box beams
  • Offer a range of thicknesses, widths, and lengths to fit complex design needs
  • Maintain both vintage character and reliable structural integrity

The result is engineered reclaimed wood that blends history and performance, made to deliver lasting results in modern projects.

What is engineered reclaimed wood?

A layer of authentic reclaimed wood is bonded to a stable plywood core. This preserves the historic look while solving common performance issues found in solid reclaimed boards.

In which situations is engineered chosen over solid reclaimed wood?

Engineered construction prevents warping, cupping, and twisting—especially useful in wider planks or over radiant heat systems. Engineered hardwood flooring can give you more installation options. It can be nailed, glued, or even floated over various surfaces (including concrete slabs).

Is it easier to install?

Yes. Engineered reclaimed wood lays flatter and straighter, resulting in cleaner, faster installations with less material waste.

Does it help conserve antique material?

Absolutely. By slicing skins from large reclaimed beams, we get more usable surface from each piece—extending the life of a finite resource.

Can it be used over radiant heat?

Yes. The engineered core is designed to remain stable under fluctuating temperatures and humidity, making it ideal for radiant floors.
